Amiternum<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n

Amiternum was an ancient Italic city founded by the Sabines, whose ruins lie near San Vittorino, about 11 km north of L’Aquila. The Roman amphitheater of Amiternum could hold up to 6,000 spectators and was built around the middle of the 1st century AD.The Roman theater of Amiternum was the main theater of the ancient Sabine city; the lower part of the cavea, orchestra, and stage remain from the original structure. Necropolis of Fossa<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n

Discovered in 1992 in the heart of the ancient territory of the Vestini people, along the banks of the Aterno river, the Necropolis of Fossa is a monumental archaeological site of significant historical importance as it was used as a burial ground for nearly a millennium.The burial mounds brought to light cover an area of about 2,000 sqm; the oldest tombs date back to the early Iron Age (11th\u20138th century BC), while the most recent date to the end of the Roman-Hellenistic period.Guided tours in collaboration with the “Semi sotto la Pietra” association.
