Campo Imperatore is a vast plateau of glacial and karst-alluvial origin, dominated by the Gran Sasso d\u2019Italia massif (2,912 m). It is situated between 1,500 and 2,100 m above sea level in the province of L’Aquila, in the heart of the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park. It is home to the ski resort of the same name, an astronomical observatory, and an alpine botanical garden. Voltigno Plain<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n

At 1,383 meters above sea level, the Vado di Focina, on the eastern slopes of the Gran Sasso range, is a gateway to the Voltigno plain. The Voltigno is a wonderful mountain basin of karst origin. In winter, it is the ideal place for ski touring and snowshoeing; in a couple of hours, you can reach the summit of Mount Cappucciata. In spring and summer, you can take long walks immersed in the local floral varieties. <\/p>\n\n
